International Students can Travel to Canada from Jan 1, 2022

The pandemic shattered the hopes of thousands of international students stranded in their home countries for the past one and a half years. The majority of them were waiting for the borders to open so that they return to their favorite study destination.

But now, stranded students will be allowed to travel and study in Canada to pursue studies from January 1, 2022. It comes after the administration announced adjustments to the country’s border restrictions for those international students and travelers included in the group.

Besides, the administration is planning to expand the list of Covid-19 vaccines from November 30. It will help travelers to be fully vaccinated. However, Canada is adding other vaccines such as Sinovac, Covaxin, and Sinopharm.

The approved vaccines are Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, and AstraZeneca. Besides, students have to be fully vaccinated before they are allowed to cross the border.

According to Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health of Canada, health, and safety remain at the forefront of Canada's fight against Covid-19. The upcoming changes to border entry and testing requirements of the country reflect the next stage in the government's approach, thus, improving vaccination rates in the country and around the world.

In addition, it is the situation at the borders monitored with experts and officials evaluating the measures and recommending necessary adjustments.

It indicates that only international students vaccinated by the approved vaccines are allowed to travel to the country. The word of advice for international students is that they need to check if they are eligible to enter the country and meet all requirements, thus, understanding the border restrictions of the country before they are allowed to travel. Besides, some territories and provinces have their travel restrictions in place.
